Our History

See How We Came To Be

Early 1900

Fourth Generation Roots

Winny Seeds traces its history back four generations. The family farm was originally established near Sovereign, Saskatchewan, building a strong foundation in prairie agriculture.

1992

Farm Expansion

Jim expanded the operation, moving the main yard to its current location west of Zealandia, Saskatchewan, supporting continued growth and diversification.

1996

Pro-Can Seeds Launched

The family opened Pro-Can Seeds, a seed cleaning and processing plant in the town of Zealandia, serving local farmers with professional seed services.

2005

On-Farm Seed Processing

After selling Pro-Can Seeds, a new seed cleaning plant was built directly on the main farm, allowing for greater quality control and efficiency.

2021

Winny Seeds Established

Winny Seeds officially launched through partnerships with FP Genetics, SeCan, and Canterra Seeds, marking the next generation of the family’s commitment to high-quality pedigreed seed.
